Fellow Americans and Citizens of Earth,

Thank you for joining me today as we address matters of great importance to the future of our democracy and the well-being of our nation. I would like to begin by bringing attention to a unifying possibility that may help us move beyond our divisive social habits and self-defeating political traditions. I am speaking of something very simple: our right to vote independently.

As individuals capable of thinking for ourselves, something has gone terribly wrong when our independent voting power becomes dependent on what other people think of us. Rather than voting for whom we genuinely want, many of us follow the crowd so we do not rock the boat within our families, communities, friendships, or political parties. Others follow their hearts in the voting booth, then hide it, lie about it, or refuse to say whom they voted for.

That is nonsense.

You do not have to hide. You do not have to be afraid of expressing your perspective. You do not have to feel guilty or ashamed because of whom you vote for. And you certainly do not have to vote the way a political party, family member, friend, or anyone else expects you to vote.

Your vote belongs to you.

You are free to think for yourself. You are free to choose for yourself. You are free to vote independently. After all, independence is at the very heart of the United States of America.

Our Amazing Right to Vote

When we cast our ballots on election day, let us do so with humility, understanding, and reverence for our amazing right to vote — and for the freedom to choose our leadership. Let us no longer engage in the voting process from a place of blame, apathy, and resentment.

Those times are over.

It is time to redirect our attention toward another possibility: realizing and manifesting a truly United States of America within a country that so often appears as a divided States of America.

We are standing at a crossroads, a pivotal moment where we must address the deep divisions and seemingly corrupt voting traditions that have characterized and sustained our social divides and conflicted political landscape for far too long. The familiar narrative of two political parties constantly at odds with one another has dominated our lives and culture since we were born; and yet we continue supporting traditions that tear us apart — as if we don’t know any better — all the while demanding change.

If we are clear that something needs to change, then let us allow change.

And one place to begin is simple: allowing ourselves to be independent with our vote, not dependent.

Radical Honesty Beyond Blame

In recent years, especially among younger generations, there has been resounding frustration with the “blame game” that has become so socially acceptable in politics and governing leadership. All of this blaming, pointing fingers, and putting each other down has to stop. It really is time to grow up, isn’t it?

Along with the misguided belief that blame, hatred, and greed can somehow unite us, many of us have also inherited the idea that we must align ourselves with one political party or another. These deeply ingrained cultural patterns can perpetuate cycles of fear, guilt, resentment, and unworthiness while continuing to feed the very divisions we say we want to heal.

Clearly, I am asking us to be radically honest about some of our divisive cultural beliefs and counterproductive habits that simply are not working. And although it is ultimately your own permission you are seeking, perhaps you need to hear the following approval or validation from someone no longer interested in contributing to divisive political drama.

Speaking as the voice of your own inner intuition, here it is: I hereby grant you permission.

Permission to open your heart and mind to possibilities you may have overlooked. Possibilities you may have been afraid of, ashamed of, or unwilling to acknowledge throughout your life for any number of reasons. Let us acknowledge those conflicted emotions right now. Honor them for the roles they may have played in our lives. Then let them go — so we can turn our attention toward four foundational ideas that may have outlived their usefulness.

Firstly, it is NOT TRUE that you must vote along party lines in the general election for President of the United States. You are free to vote for whichever candidate you choose, including an Independent candidate.

Secondly, it is NOT TRUE that a healthy democracy requires “us versus them” — Republicans and Democrats locked in perpetual conflict. Why not give yourself permission to step outside those divisive mindsets and cultural patterns?

Thirdly, it is NOT TRUE that you must vote against someone rather than for someone. You are allowed to vote according to your own judgment, conscience, and values.

And lastly, it is NOT TRUE that an Independent candidate automatically means fearful or radical change. An Independent candidate is simply a candidate who is not running as the nominee of one of the major political parties.

Independence is Our Birthright

We are allowed to understand that an Independent candidate can symbolize something deeply woven into the founding spirit of our country — independence. And in a general election, you are free to vote for the candidate of your choosing, regardless of political party affiliation. You are allowed to exercise that freedom — especially on election day.

Remember, the United States of America emerged from a radical struggle for freedom, liberty, and independence. The Declaration of Independence itself speaks of our unalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

And yet independence does not mean isolation.

We can honor our independence while embracing the unifying reality of our inter-dependence. Independence recognizes our individual freedom and rights. Inter-dependence recognizes that all of us rely upon one another, every day, in countless ways — even while we so often overlook, or take for granted, the care, cooperation, and human connection that hold our lives together.

The Point is to Just Be Yourself - Not an Identity

To the point: why vote against a candidate simply because we have become locked into rigid political patterns, when other possibilities may exist? Isn’t it finally time to consider what we may be overlooking when we get out of our own way? Between the extreme ends of the political spectrum lies a ground of neutrality — a sacred space many of us may yearn for without even realizing it exists. This is the possibility of living with greater independence, less confined by political identities and the social conflict they can create.

Let this also be clear: This speech is not a call for campaign reform, but a plea to transform the deeply ingrained mentalities and belief systems that hold us in rigid opposition to one another. It is time to rise above the fear of breaking cultural norms and step outside the boundaries of political identities that may no longer serve us. It is time to reclaim our power — the Power of the People. The Power to Choose. The All-Inclusive Powers of Human Consciousness.

It is time to set fear aside, think for ourselves, and simply be ourselves.

Because our nation has long associated itself with ideals of liberty and self-government, let us consider what it would mean to become a more unified example of those ideals in practice. Let us move beyond the patterns of hostility and political immaturity that so often define public life. In other words, let us allow ourselves the freedom to vote according to our own conscience, judgment, and values — regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Give Yourself Permission to Be Free

The title of this speech is Unlock Your Voice Now: A Call to Reclaiming Your Voting Independence. Your vote is your own.

Think for yourself! Give yourself permission to be free.

Once more, you are allowed to vote for whomever you choose in the general election — including an Independent candidate. And no matter who you vote for, that choice does NOT make you a bad person. Not if the candidate belongs to the “other” party. Not if your spouse, partner, parents, friends, or neighbors disagree with you. Your vote belongs to you.

And the idea that considering an Independent candidate somehow means abandoning American principles deserves another look. Independence itself is woven deeply into the founding language of this country. The Declaration of Independence speaks of unalienable rights, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, while the Bill of Rights protects individual freedoms in relation to government.

Opening ourselves to Independent candidates, then, need not be viewed as a rejection of American values. It can simply be understood as another exercise of the freedom voters already possess: the freedom to consider the candidates before them, think independently, and vote according to their own conscience and judgment.

Lets Really Be Compassionately Honest

Let’s ask ourselves a simple question: which feels more liberating — feeling dependent on a political party, or feeling independently free to choose? Now let us honor that understanding when we vote. Let us open our minds and hearts and listen beyond anger-driven conditioned responses and fear-based reactions to change, especially when so many of us already recognize that something in our political culture needs to change.

It is time to embrace the possibility of a new way forward — one that moves beyond rigid party identities and creates more room for unity, understanding, and peace rather than separation and rage. The power to participate in that change lies within each of us: as individuals, as voters, as Human Beings, and as United Americans. Let us cast aside the worn-out habits of blame and division and begin writing a new narrative of cooperation, understanding, and mutual respect — while reclaiming our independence.

And let us celebrate that independence as a form of inter-dependence — almost as if every day were the Fourth of July, Independence Day. Let us honor the freedom we possess to choose our leadership, exercise the freedoms of expression we may too often neglect, and use our legal right to vote independently in the general election if we so choose. In a presidential general election, registered voters may vote for any presidential candidate regardless of party registration or whom they supported previously.

The time for change is now. May we move forward with the courage to think for ourselves, the freedom to choose for ourselves, and the willingness to embrace the more inclusive and peaceful possibilities we know in our hearts are possible.
